Roseburg High School Band: RME Staff Bios 

 

Below is a brief biography of each staff member that works during band camp, and possibly the season. There will also be various volunteers that help throughout the season.

Branden Hansen – Band Director 

Mr. Hansen instructs all of the band classes at RHS. He earned his Bachelor's and Master's degrees at Oregon State University where he studied percussion, music education, and instrumental conducting. Mr. Hansen is a committee member of the Oregon Music Educator's Association and is affiliated with the National Band Association and Kappa Kappa Psi Honorary Band Fraternity. Megan Hansen – Marching Technician

Megan Hansen has worked for the RME for the past four years. She was drum major at her high school (Beaverton High School, OR) for two years and the drum major for the Oregon State University Marching Band for three. Megan has a Master's Degree in Music Education and plays the saxophone. She currently teaches private lessons and substitutes. 

 

Whitney Gasner - Front Ensemble Instructor

Whitney Gasner has worked for the RME for the past five years. Before joining the RME staff, Whitney was a member of the band as a high school student. Whitney brings a wealth of musical and logistical experience to the group. She is currently a student at Umpqua Community College.

 

Zak Stillwell – Drill Designer

Zak Stillwell has taught and written drill for schools in Arizona, California, and Oregon. He began his marching career in the Academy Drum and Bugle corps from Tempe, AZ before spending four seasons with the Blue Devils. An upcoming instructor and designer in the marching arts, Zak currently serves as the Visual Caption head for the Blue Devils B corp. He attended the University of Arizona where he studied music education.

 

Davis Weiss – Drumline Instructor

David Weiss is a graduate of Roseburg High School. He was on the drumline all four years and was section leader his Junior and Senior years. He is an exceptionally skilled marching percussionist and has received many awards for his percussion playing, including the MVP award at Alan Keown’s national recognized summer camps.
